Understanding and changing your dog’s behavior

A lot of times folks get hung up on trying to figure out why their dog is doing something, especially if it’s a suddenly new behavior. The answer to this is almost always the same—because they’re a dog! Dogs just do what comes naturally, unless we do something to change that. Most people  are doing the best they can with what they have. But for many, that still leaves a lot of gaps in their dog’s training. What we hear time and time again is that people have good dogs that are smart… but they don’t listen around distractions or they have specific behaviors that they just can’t seem to eliminate. We pride ourselves on being experts in these areas. A lot of our clients have been working with other trainers for months or years before they finally find us and experience success!

The fact is, a great deal of the information that you will find in other trainers’ programs, on the internet, or from YouTube trainers is false. And that can make you feel like you’re crazy, or as though there is something wrong with your dog. Good news—you can relax—there isn’t. We are so passionate about this aspect of training. You must incorporate a variation of positive and negative consequences to be effective at shaping behavior. Most folks simply aren’t doing that, nor are they sure how to. And the how does matter. A sloppy, haphazard process will get you sloppy, haphazard results.  We can absolutely help you, and we are incredibly passionate about teaching people exactly how we get the amazing results we are known for.
